It is the 10th anniversary of the September 11
th terrorist attacks and the loss of lives in New York City, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania. I continue to find comfort in
This Place I Know: Poems of Comfort. The poems in the book, each of which is illustrated by a well-known illustrator, were selected by author and teacher Georgia Heard. She began gathering poems right after September 11 at the request of the superintendent of district 2 in Manhattan. The superintendent asked Heard to find "poems of comfort" so that they could be shared with the schoolchildren in New York City after the traumatic event. My thoughts and sympathy are with all of you who lost loved ones as a result of the attacks.
