Happy Birthday, Jan Berenstain! Jul 26th 2011, 00:46 Happy 88th birthday to Jan Berenstain who, along with her husband, Stan, created the Berenstain Bears books. Since Stan's death in 2005, their son Michael has worked with his mother to create more Berenstain Bears books. I interviewed Mike Berenstain last year about the new Living Lights Berenstain Bears Christian series and about the upcoming Berenstain Bears movie. I haven't heard any more about the movie, but the Living Lights beginning reader series continues to grow, with the newest Berenstain Bears books in the series, The Trouble with Secrets and Reap the Harvest, coming out in August.
