It's inevitable that your child will want an iPod. When choosing earphones for your child, finding a safe set is a must. Let's take a look at Ultimate Ears' Loud Enough earphones for children.

The Ultimate Ears Company

Ultimate Ears is a high-end manufacturer of earphones for discerning listeners and musicians. The company began in 1995 as a provider of quality in-ear monitors for musicians, and gradually moved into the mainstream consumer line of listening products.

The "Loud Enough" Earphones

The idea behind Loud Enough earphones is that they put a damper on your child's hearing loss if he or she is a frequent iPod user. Ultimate Ears' technology limits the more damaging high-frequency range, while keeping most of the less dangerous bass frequency intact. The sound isn't muffled, just quieter; yet the sound output is as clear as any other earphone.

The Bottom Line

With the Loud Enough earphones, it's still possible to turn up the volume past parental comfort levels, but the earphones definitely limit decibel output. The earphones come with three different sizes of silicone ear buds, perfect for smaller ears, but also easier for younger children to lose. They come in three attractive-to-kids colors, Blueberry, Plum and Mint, and can be carried in a matching pebble-shaped case. And the $34 to $39 price isn't a wallet buster.

Always Test Products Yourself

Now, remember this is a "research review," not a "performance review." That just means I did lots of investigating to find out the facts about Loud Enough earphones. I didn't, however, personally test the performance of the earphones. Remember this safe listening tip for children: Always test products yourself, especially when it comes to your child's safety. And it's still up to parents to keep their children's listening volume at a responsible level, no matter what earphones they are using.
