Donaldson was recently appointed the 2011-2013 Children's Laureate in the UK in recognition of the body of her work in children's literature. Because of the rhythm and rhyme in the writing, The Gruffalo is fun for children to listen to and the repetition makes it easy for them to participate in the telling and retelling of the story. This tale of a clever mouse and the gruffalo is a story kids love to hear again and again.
