Like many kids, teens and adults, I love
The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. I just finished reading
The Hugo Movie Companion: A Behind the Scenes Look at How a Beloved Book Becomes a Major Motion Picture by Brian Selznick. It is a fascinating book, one I recommend for kids 11 and older and teens, as well as adults and some younger fans.
Hugo, the movie version of
The Invention of Hugo Cabret, will be released November 23.
Whether you and your kids read The Hugo Movie Companion before or after you see the movie, I think you'll enjoy it, especially if you are looking for a thorough explanation of the work of a movie cast and crew, along with a lot of color photos of the actors and the set of Hugo, historic photos of Paris in 1931, illustrations from the children's book, drawings and more. Have you and/or your children read The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick, for which Selznick received the 2008 Randolph Caldecott Medal? What did you think of it? Do you plan to see the movie? Click on "Comments" below let me know.
